Thomas A McQuaide Jr.

Thomas A. McQuaide, 83 of Schererville, IN, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family June 4, 2024. Tom was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Thomas A. McQuaide, Sr. and Rita (Downs) McQuaide. He is survived by his loving life partner of 37 years, Trudy Ahrens. Tom was a proud father figure to his nephews, Michael (Mandy) McQuaide and Dennis McQuaide, and stepfather figure to Jeffrey (Mona) Ahrens and Vickie (Martin) Taylor. He was the beloved Pappy Tom to Brenden, Delaney, Declan, Teaghan and Jameson McQuaide and Grandpa Tom to Jeremy and Alyssa Ahrens, Kyle Taylor, Raymond, Malissa and Simone Haddad, Madeline Ahrens and Daniel and Liliana Chavez. Tom is survived by his siblings Karen M. Jenkins, Mickie McQuaide, Dennis (Judy) McQuaide and Kim Herrmann along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Daneen McQuaide. Tom was a true American patriot and loved his country. He proudly served in the US Air Force before beginning his life-long career in the steel industry at LTV Steel in 1962. His career took him out of Pittsburgh and around the country until he finally landed in Indiana, where he met Trudy and made his home. During his 44 years of employment, Tom received many awards and accolades for his work and investigations. In 2006, he retired as the Regional Security Manager. Tom was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading and was a die-hard Steelers fan. Family and friends will be received at the Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 1 W Wilhelm Street, Schererville, IN, followed by burial at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
