Theresa "Tess" Clark

Theresa “Tess” Clark 85, of Hobart, Indiana (formerly from Des Moines, Iowa) passed away on June 10the 2024 peacefully with both her children by her side. Theresa M. Ryan was born in Maquoketa, Iowa on October 3rd, 1938 to James and Ida Ryan. Tess graduated from MHS and attended Davenport College of Cosmetology. After graduating, she married Thomas Arthur “Art” Clark. To this union three children were born. Daughter; Rene’ Marie in March of 1961, and twin boys; Todd James and Terry Thomas followed in August 1962. Sadly, Todd passed away at 5 days old. In May 1965, Art passed away. Raising her two children alone, she had a beauty shop in her home for many years. Later she went to work at Maquoketa State Bank. In 1975 Tess and her children moved to Des Moines, Iowa where they created a new life. She worked at Brenton Bank and went on to work at Merchants Bonding Company until she retired in 2005. After retirement she spent the next 15 years babysitting for the Warner families. She considered them her family as well as they did. Tess loved children, animals, and being around friends and family. She was always happy, fun and full of life. A special person for all who knew her and she will profoundly be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband; Art Clark, son; Todd James, her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law; Tom and Marion Clark, brother and sisters-in-law; Howard & (Marian) Ryan, Carl and (JoAnn) Ryan, sister and brother-in-law; Mary and (Dave) Billngs. Those left to honor her memory are her daughter; Rene’ (Joe) Cerjak of Hobart, Indiana, son; Terry (Rhonda) Clark of Gilbert, Arizona, granddaughters; Tracy (Scott) Mayfield, Riley Clark, great granddaughter; Brooklyn Mayfield, brothers-in-law; Mick (Carol) Clark and Ed (Sue) Clark, sisters-in-law; Nancy Ryan, Ruth Peterson, Kate (Jackie) Clark, Margie (Bob) Peterson, and Karin (Kenny) Till. Also left to honor Tess is her special niece and her husband; Kaye and Eddy Smock. Along with The Warner Families; Melissa, Nick, and Alex Warner. Bill, Amanda, Hayden, Blake, and Reese Warner. And many other family members and friends. A Celebration of life, graveside service and Burial will be at a later date in Maquoketa, Iowa next to her Husband Art. Burns Funeral Home & Crematory entrusted with arrangements.
