Sharon Sue White

Sharon Sue White, age 75, of Gary, Indiana, passed away at home peacefully on February 22, 2025. Sharon was born on September 29, 1949, to Daniel White Sr. and Bessie P. (Hoeferlin) Wachowiak in Gary, Indiana. She graduated from Lew Wallce High School in 1968. After graduating she worked in Chicago as a secretary and later worked for the School City of Gary as a secretary. Sharon was a very caring and loving mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed going fishing and camping. Sharon especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for making tostadas and watching movies like, It’s a Wonderful Life, Little Women, Scarface, and The Godfather. Although Sharon loved being a mother, she especially enjoyed being a nana. Her granddaughter Aubree was truly her pride and joy. They enjoyed baking, watching tv, playing games, eating junk food, making tents on the clothesline and simply spending quality time together. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; Daniel White Sr. and Bessie P. (Hoeferlin) Wachowiak, brother; Daniel D. “Sonny” White Jr., nephew Jerry Lynn Boehning, great niece; Ashley (Krantz) Titus, and her loving and devoted pet; Max. Sharon is survived by her daughter; Shakia (Clayton) Torres of Portage, Indiana, granddaughter; Aubree Torres, sisters; Carol Lou Russell of Paducah, Kentucky and Barbara (Doug) Mann of Hobart, Indiana, nieces and nephews; Rachelle (Ventura) West, Richard (Sandy) Russell, Christopher Russell, Colleen (Robert) Krantz, and Joseph (Tracey) Cruz Jr., great nephews and niece; John Langston, Daniel Langston, Joshua (Mai) Krantz, Jaeden Krantz, Joey Crus, and Zachary Cruz, two great-great nieces and two great-great nephews; bonus daughter Charity (Nick) Nicholson, and close friend Kat. Sharon was a very strong, giving, loving and caring person. She fought to the very end. She will be deeply missed. Sharon’s family would like to give a special thank you to extended family members, friends, Dr. Z. Stepanovic and VNA Hospice of NWI for all the love and support during such a difficult time. Services will be held at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory 701 East 7th Street Hobart, Indiana 46342. Visitation Friday, February 28, 2025, 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Visitation Saturday, March 1, 2025, 9:00 – 10:00 AM with the funeral service starting at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
