SERVICES HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR 6/9/25 & 6/10/25. It is with both sorrow and fond memories that we announce the passing of Roy Ferrer, a man who lived life with laughter, kindness, and an uncanny ability to make people smile—even when they didn’t feel like it. A longtime resident of Crown Point, Indiana, Roy was known for his quick wit, big heart, and legendary camera skills. Roy graduated from Morton Senior High School in 1982 before embarking on a new adventure with the United States Air Force. From 1984 to 1988, he served as a Medical Service Specialist stationed in Alconbury, England. While tending to military personnel, he also perfected his ability to deliver expert advice—whether they wanted it or not. His humor was his secret weapon, and his joy for life made him unforgettable. Roy is now reunited with his father, Angel Ferrer, his maternal grandparents, Felipe Rivera, Amalia Ortiz, paternal grandparents, Daniel Ferrer and Maria Rivera—and we can only assume he’s cracking jokes with them already. Left to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Maria Ferrer (William Perez); his twin sisters, Kay Ferrer-Mejia (Juan Mejia) and Fay Ferrer-Pulido (Miguel Pulido); his dear nephew whom he adored, Grayson A. Ferrer-Mejia; his aunt, Teresa Morales; adopted daughters, Jennifer Sullivan and Jill Pisinski; granddaughter, Linnette Sullivan; and his best friend/sister, Donna Grass, along with his beloved fur baby, Mia Sophia, will forever miss his laughter, sarcasm, and habit of turning everyday moments into something special. Roy saw the world differently—through the lens of his camera. As the proud owner of Avalon Images, his photography business, he dedicated himself to capturing life’s most precious moments. He also worked with Timeless Images Photography in Highland, Indiana, using his talent to bring light and beauty into the lives of others. His passion for photography was matched only by his love for live music. Roy had a knack for capturing the energy and emotion of concerts, blending his appreciation for music with his artistic eye. Whether backstage or in the crowd, he knew how to freeze a moment in time, sometimes even sneaking into the best spots just to get the perfect shot. A visitation will be held at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, Indiana, on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. A visitation will be held directly at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 7667 East 109th Avenue, Crown Point, IN, from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Rev. Thomas E. Mischler officiating. Roy will be laid to rest with military honors at Calumet Park Cemetery, 2305 West 73rd Avenue, Merrillville, Indiana.
