Patricia A. Katich

Patricia A. Katich (nee Gold), 82, of Valparaiso, Indiana, formerly of Crown Point, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 4, 1943, in Fremont, Illinois, Patricia was the beloved daughter of Allan and Evelyn (Doerr) Gold, and cherished sister to Peggy (Buddy) Gardner and Elizabeth Gold. She graduated from Aquinas Dominican High School in 1961 and went on to earn her master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. In her early adulthood, Patricia dedicated herself to teaching, shaping young minds with her keen intellect, warmth, and compassion. Later, she brought her analytical mind and strong work ethic to the family business, serving as its accountant for many years. On June 26, 1965, Patricia married the love of her life, John E. Katich. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three children—Daniel (Lori) Katich, Douglas Katich, and Kristen (Jim Loverde)—instilling in them the values of kindness, curiosity, and loyalty. Pat was a woman of remarkable depth and grace. She possessed a sharp intellect and an unquenchable curiosity, delighting in meaningful conversation and thoughtful debate. A lifelong lover of the arts, she found joy in museums, theaters, literature, and film. She shared her creativity through pottery and was an active member of her dinner, pottery, and book clubs. Her friendships were many and enduring—Pat was a devoted friend who brought laughter, insight, and warmth to every gathering. She was also a loving and selfless mother and grandmother who consistently put others before herself. Her presence was magnetic, her laughter contagious, and her wisdom a steady source of comfort to those around her. Pat and her late husband John shared a love that spanned decades—rooted in deep respect, mutual devotion, and a shared zest for life. Even after his passing, she carried his memory close to her heart, their bond remaining a testament to lasting affection and true partnership. Patricia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John E. Katich, and her parents, Allan and Evelyn Gold. She is survived by her children—Daniel (Lori), Douglas, and Kristen (Jim)—and her treasured grandchildren: Matt (Lisa), Monica (Marius), John (Robyn), Annie, Zak, Grace, Lily, Alyssa, Rebecca, Quinn, and Evermore. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Fiona, Emma, Daniel, Colton, Miles, and Eliyah. Patricia will be inurned alongside her husband at Graceland Cemetery, 4001 N. Clark St., Chicago, Illinois.
