Margaret Rebecca "Becky" Smith

Margaret Rebecca “Becky” Smith (née Riggs) passed away on February 21, 2026, surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and laughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Nell Riggs; her husband, Herbert Smith Jr.; and her brothers, Roger Riggs and Richard “Dickie” Riggs. Born on February 9, 1945, in Lake City, TN, Becky spent her life devoted to her family — the true center of her world. She was a proud and loving mother to her son, Randy (Nancy) Smith, and a deeply cherished grandmother to her granddaughters, Caitlin Wright (née Smith) and Allison (Eric) Hadley. The greatest joys of her life were her great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Jameson, who brought her endless pride and happiness. She also lovingly embraced her step-grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Maier, Christy (Corey) Doyne, Lauren (Scott) Haller, and Steven Mitchell, as well as her step-great-grandchildren, Bryce, Hayden, Cole, Reese, Sailor, and Indie, all of whom brought additional joy to her life. Becky was beloved by all who knew her because she truly never met a stranger. She had a gift for making people feel seen and welcome, and she left an impression on everyone she met. Her kindness was constant, and her faith in God was unwavering. She was a faithful member of Barrington Ridge Baptist Church, where her servant’s heart was evident to all who knew her. She was always ready to say a prayer for someone in need, often putting others before herself. She was also wonderfully funny — sometimes without even realizing it. Becky had a sassy, mischievous spirit and was never afraid to be herself. That spark, that humor, and that warmth are gifts her family will carry with them always. She was a dedicated member of the Lake Station Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and proudly served on the Lake Station Bicentennial Committee.
