James “Jimmy” Eugene Blair Jr. ascended into eternity, transitioning into the arms of the Lord on May 5, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents James Blair, Sr. and Gwendolyn Patton Blair; his grandmother Lassie Buford Blair; mother-in-law Emily Ford, and brother-in-law Robert L. Edge, Sr. Jimmy attended Froebel High School in Gary, Indiana and emerged as a savvy businessman, excelling as an entrepreneur and inventor. He dreamed large and wide, leaving nothing to chance. He was the epitome of a class act, smooth talker with the gift of gab. He loved dressing to the nines, owning more than 100 suits. Beyond immeasurable was the love he had for his family and Christ. Confessing his life early in Christ, he was baptized at Freeman Temple Church of God in Christ in Gary, IN whereas a seasoned saint he sang in the choir, which led to performing on stage to larger audiences as an accomplished singer with amazing vocals! Jimmy met and fell in love with an angel sent from heaven, Elizabeth Florence Edge, who he charmingly dropped the E from her name, calling her “Lizabeth.” They were married and to their union bore 2 children: Regina Blair and Veetia Griffin (Ledon). Relishing in his memories are his grandchildren Veesha Montemayor (Melissa); Dr. Blair Mitchell- Handley (Darren); Phylisha Evans, and Lacey Davis and his great-grandchildren Philemon Smith; Faith Smith; Brooke Handley, and Pharoah Harris. Jimmy was the youngest of 2 children, leaving to cherish in his memories, his treasured sister Yvonne Wilson; brother-in-law George Ford (Mary); sister-in-law Nancy Edge; nephew William Wilson, Jr.; nieces Brenda Davis and Pamela Carneygee; great nephews; great nieces, cousins and a host of loving friends. He has been set free, resting peacefully. –Until we see you again, your legacy will continue to thrive. Visitation will take place on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 12 p.m. Rev, Kevin Yancey and Rev.
