Constance "Connie" Suzanne Ratajec-Rouhselang

Constance “Connie” Suzanne Ratajec-Rouhselang, age 79, of Crown Point, Indiana, passed away on August 29, 2026. Connie was born on February 7, 1947, in Gary, Indiana, to Steven and Anna Ratajec. She married the love of her life, Dennis Rouhselang, with whom she built a life and raised their three children. Connie was a devoted and loving mother to David Rouhselang, Tim (Brigitte) Rouhselang, and Diane (Randy) Dunn. Her family meant everything to her, and there was nothing she enjoyed more than having those she loved gathered around her. She was a proud grandmother to Jeremy, Sarah, Emily, Dylan, Camille, Logan, Jason, Felicia, Alyson, and Lauren, and a loving great-grandmother to Jayce and Liam; and loving aunt to several nieces and nephews. She also adored her sweet pups, Molly and Annie, who held a very special place in her heart. Throughout her life, Connie worked for the Merrillville Community School Corporation in the cafeteria and also served as a secretary for her husband’s excavating company and her sons’ landscaping company. She was hardworking and always willing to help her family in whatever way she could. Connie had a special love for plants, flowers, and planting trees. She enjoyed shopping at Walmart and especially treasured the simple moments when her family was together. Her compassion extended to animals of all kinds. She lovingly cared for barn cats, making sure they were fed and even taking them to the veterinarian when they needed care. Her kindness toward animals was just one reflection of the loving and compassionate person she was. Connie was a kind, loving, and deeply loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and the love she gave them throughout her life will remain with them always. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis Rouhselang; her parents, Steven and Anna Ratajec; and her siblings, Eva, Angeline, Anna, and Steve. Visitation will be held at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory.
