Charles Robert Bewick DDS, age 90 of Valparaiso Indiana passed away November 11, 2017. Dr Charles Bewick was born November 15, 1926 in a small mining town of Leisenring No.3, Pennsylvania, and raised in Gary Indiana. Dr. Charles Bewick graduated from Emerson High School, Gary Indiana in 1945. Dr. Charles Bewick enlisted in the Air Force and served during WWII. He was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base Oahu Hawaii. Dr. Charles Bewick went to Indiana University Bloomington IN, and then on to Indiana University Dental School in Indianapolis IN, he graduated Dental School in 1953. Dr. Charles Bewick practiced dentistry in Gary Indiana for 51 years. Dr. Charles Bewick severed as Police Commissioner of Gary Indiana from 1968-1972. Dr. Charles Bewick was an avid sports fan, he had season tickets for Indiana University Football, and the Chicago Blackhawks. He also enjoyed politics. While Dr. Charles Bewick was stationed at the Amarillo Air Force Base in Texas, he met his late wife Betty. Dr. Charles Bewick and Betty were married September 6, 1950 in Gary Indiana. They were married 59 years. He is survived by his Five Children: Debbie (Dr. Phillip (DDS) Smith of Kingsport TN, Dr. Robert Kent Bewick DDS of McMinnville TN, Dr. Keary (Rebecca) Bewick DDS of Valparaiso IN, Kevin Bewick of Surprise Arizona, William ( Linda) Bewick RDH, of Westville IN. Six Grandchildren: Lindsey (Jon) Kidd ACNP of Dalton GA, Lauren (Mark) Hitchcock of McMinnville TN, William (Jen Fedell) Hilton of Westville IN, Alesia (Bryan) Campbell of Valparaiso IN, Kerri Lynn (Daniel) Burkus of Valparaiso IN, Beverly Allison Bewick of Valparaiso IN. Two Great Grandchildren: Rigley Addison Campbell, and Harper Lynn Burkus, Sister-in-law Charlotte (late Rosco) Pardue of Kingston OK, along with many nieces, and nephews. Dr. Charles Bewick was preceded in death by his Wife: Betty Jane Bewick of Valparaiso IN. Parents: William and Ethyl Bewick of Gary IN, Brothers: John (Althea) Hormell of Watsontown PA, and George (Marilyn) Bewick of Gary IN, Brother-in-law Grady (Peggy) Cooper, of Arlington TX, Sister-in-law Patricia (Marvin) Eagle of TX.
