Casey Dawn Gurgon Diaz

It is with profound sadness that the family of Casey Dawn Gurgon Diaz announce her passing. Casey was born on August 24, 1990, in Crown Point, Indiana, and passed away at the age of 35 years old on June 12, 2026, in Hobart, Indiana. Most recently a resident of Union Township, Casey, was known for her love of the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, walking at the beach, gardening, naming every animal she came across in the wild, and catching a glimpse of her favorite blue butterflies and dragonflies. She loved all of God’s creatures but especially her dogs and cat and the time she spent playing with them. Casey was a lifelong softball player, loved the game, and her team. When not outdoors you could find Casey cooking, watching one of her favorite TV shows, Friends, or her favorite movie, Nightmare Before Christmas, doing make-up tutorials, listening to Tech 9, dancing, watching baseball and rooting for her favorite team The Sox. Casey loved many things, but what filled her heart and soul the most were her children and stepchildren. Although Casey was separated from her husband, she still cared deeply for her stepchildren. She loved being with the children, taking them out to fish, singing in the car with her daughter Monica, playing catch with DJ, and enjoying everyday life with them. Casey filled them with enough love that will go from Heaven and back. She is survived by her parents; Brian Gurgon and Diana (Scott) LaFoone, siblings; Ben Gurgon (who was her best buddy), Jill Johnson, her beautiful children; Monica, David Junior “DJ”, stepchildren; Katelynn, Gabriella, previous spouse; David Diaz, in-laws; Catherine and Justin Iaplante, lifelong best friend and current partner; Chrstopher Walla (her hunny love as she called him), and her Walla family; Linda Walla, Tom Walla, Nichole Walla, Marilyn Pappas, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Services will be held at Central Church of God 5120 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368 on Saturday July 11, 2026, visitation from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service at 12:00 P.M. Rev. Harwell officiating.
