Carol J. VanDenburgh

Carol J. VanDenburgh (Seabloom), 70, died peacefully at her home in Hebron, IN on Friday, December 2, 2011 from pulmonary fibrosis. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, David L. VanDenburgh of Hebron, IN; her children, Katherine L. VanDenburgh of Indianapolis, Gregory L. VanDenburgh of Hebron and David M. VanDenburgh of Naperville, IL; grandchildren, Gabrielle M. VanDenburgh, Martina Danelaite, David M. VanDenburgh, II, Molly N. Cannon, Wade VanDenburgh and Ben Burba; and sisters, Louise E. Greer of Crown Point and Karen S. Wilson of Cedar Lake, and several nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter E. Seabloom and Helen K. Seabloom and her brothers, Walter “Eugene” Seabloom and Forrest “Butch” Seabloom. Carol was born on July 7, 1941 at home in Cedar Lake, IN. She lived in Cedar Lake, Crown Point, and Hebron, IN her entire life. She graduated from Crown Point High School, Class of 1959 and married her high school sweetheart, David that same year at the Holy Name Catholic church in Cedar Lake, IN. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Crown Point and was Treasurer of the Ladies Society at St. Elizabeth Seton in Hebron for many years. Carol retired from JC Penney in 2006 after 23 years of service. During her career there Carol was the #1 Sales person in the Men’s Suits for many years receiving countless customer awards. Carol was the glue that kept everyone together. She was vivacious and could work circles around most people accomplishing anything she put her mind to. She has many interest and hobbies. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller-skating, bike riding, playing cards with friends and family. She was a State Champion Trap-Shooter in 1971 and became an Amway Distributor that same year. A “Go-Getter” with a positive attitude, she held the position of Direct Distributor for many years, receiving several awards. She was an avid gardener as evidenced by their beautiful flower beds. When she wasn’t gardening, she was baking bread, cookies and pies for her children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends. Along with gardening and baking, she loved to cut, split and stack wood for winter fires. Carol was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her entire family and all who knew her. Visitation for Carol will be held at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 Joliet St., Crown Point, IN. Rev. Patrick Kalich officiating. Service will terminate at the church with cremation following.
