Virginia M Popovich
September 5, 1923 - February 16, 2021
Virginia M Popovich (Lesniewski) Age 97-1/2 passed away peacefully on February 16th. A loving wife, mother, friend and neighbor, Virginia was well known for being a wonderful cook and baker. She was quick to share fresh baked goods and always had enough food to ensure anyone stopping by would not leave hungry. She was very social. She loved talking and telling stories to family and friends, but would also start conversations with complete strangers, making new friends. She would brag about the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, or about her love of travel. Virginia was always fashionably dressed for any special occasion. A lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana, she called Merrillville home for the majority of it. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Nick, and daughter Gaye Andersen. She is survived by sons Nick, Bob, and Jim also 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Virginia's family plans a celebration of life at a later date, they ask that they are able to grieve privately at this time. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a random act of kindness is performed to honor Virginia's memory. Burns Funeral Home (Crown Point) entrusted with arrangements.www.burnsfuneral.com
