Rita Galambos

June 15, 1930 - January 14, 2022

Rita Galambos, age 91, passed away January 14, 2022. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, William. She was a devoted mother to her 3 daughters Linda Galambos (IL), Gina (Mark) Ricca (IN), and Karen Galambos (Bill Owens) (TN). Cherished grandmother of Jordan, Ryan and Gray Ricca and Paige (Shelby) Johnston, Ashley (Joel) Lemay, and Alex Owens. Proud aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Rita was born in East Chicago, IN and was a long time resident of Crown Point, IN. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in East Chicago, where she was the drum majorette for the marching band. Having endured many difficulties in her young life, she was able to teach her children and grandchildren many life lessons that they continue to carry with them to this day, including accountability, a strong work ethic and the belief that nothing is impossible. Her warmth and kind soul allowed her to connect to many people along the way and she became a second mother to many of her daughters’ friends throughout the years. She had a deep love for nature. She was never more happy then when she was sitting by a body of water (be it a lake, pond, or ocean), watching a sunset, working in her garden or watching birds in her yard.
