Rick Rash, age 62, of Crown Point, Indiana, formally of Griffith, born in East Chicago passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022. Rick was born on February 13, 1960. The simple pleasures in life brought Rick great joy. He loved early mornings drinking coffee and watering flowers with Kathy, attending sporting events for his grandchildren, (Papa was always their biggest fan), fishing, cookouts, family get-togethers, and quiet evenings at home with Kathy. Rick was above all a loyal friend, a caring papa, and a loving husband. He would drop everything to help the boys. Kathy and Rick were always the first calls in a time of need. To know Rick was a gift. His sense of humor was priceless. Rick’s warm smile and laugh made all around him feel right at home. Rick was Kathy’s best friend and her whole heart. For all of us who have had our air fixed by Rick over the years…let’s sit in our cool homes this summer with a smile on our faces and a warm memory in our hearts of Rick. Rick is preceded in death by his father, Clint Rash; his mother, Dorothy Rash; father-in-law, Eules Gardenhire and mother-in-law, Alene Fields. He is survived by his wife of 31, years, Kathleen. His children, Jody (Donnell) Belcher of Lowell, Jamy (Marvin) Belcher, of Mesa, Arizona; Jason (Katie) Belcher of Valparaiso. His grandchildren, Jayden, Ashlee, Kallie, and Morgan. He is also survived by his siblings, Mick (Cindy) of Schererville, Jim (Judy) of Maryville, Tennessee, Tim of Gary, Indiana and stepmom, Marilyn Rash along with her children, Sheila, Diane, Joann, and many cousins and Aunt Linda. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.
