Margaret "Pegg" Sangerman

Margaret “Pegg” Sangerman (née McGuan) was taken from us suddenly on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. She was a dedicated spouse to Mike Sangerman for 46 years, mother of Samantha Babcock (Mark Babcock), and Max. Pegg lived a life of overflowing enthusiasm for her faith, family, friends, and music. She was an avid supporter of the arts, and while she performed in many local theater productions herself, she was most proud of her husband, Mike, daughter, Samantha, and son, Max, all of whom are consummate performers. Pegg’s happiest moments were attending every performance of theirs that she could, and she traveled across the country to support their careers. Those of us lucky enough to have Pegg in our lives knew her as the most generous and loyal spouse, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, or friend. She fought for us. She was fierce and compassionate, and Pegg backed down to no one. And most memorably, Pegg was brilliant and spontaneously funny--quick with a quip or impersonation--and the life of every party she attended. At the slightest provocation, she could adopt her alter ego, Natasha Fatale, Russian accent and all, and entertain us as the cartoon spy. It never got old, and neither did Pegg. News reports referring to Pegg as an “elderly” woman were slanderous. Always glamorous and full of panache, Pegg was an icon of style. Pegg was preceded in death by her father, George McGuan and mother, Rosemarie. She is survived by husband, Mike, daughter, Samantha (Mark) of Chicago, IL, son, Max of New York, NY, and her four brothers, George (Mary Ann) McGuan of Miller Beach, IN, Bernard (Susan) McGuan of Wheaton, IL, Paul (Diana) McGuan of Milwaukee, WI and Joseph (Kathryn) of Austin, TX. Losing a life so full of vivacity and so unexpectedly leaves a huge void for us all. Pegg was genuine and sincere, energetic and spontaneous, and loving without reservation. Her company was spellbinding as theater itself--temporarily suspending belief and reality as you knew it. You could prepare but never be fully ready for her. Once you were drawn into Pegg’s orbit, you were taken for a thrill ride full of emotion, and the joy of a life lived to the fullest.
