Marcia K. Goodan

Marcia K. Goodan, age 77, of Clermont, FL, formerly of Crown Point, IN passed away peacefully March 25, 2024. She was born on September 7, 1946 in Gary, IN to the late Thomas and Anna Irene Goodan. Marcia was preceded in death by her brothers- Thomas L. Goodan, Ronald E. “Joe” Welton, Roger L. Goodan Sr.; nephew- George B. Phillips II; niece- Brenda S. Billingsley. She is survived by her sisters- Connie A. Phillips, Martha Y. Scott; sister-in-law- Jeannette (Jackie) Welton; nieces, Sherry (Tracy) Ward, Jacque (Jim) Chinn, Gail Irene Goodan; nephews- Ronald (Stacy) Welton, Tom (Heather) Scott, Roger L. Goodan Jr, Mitchell D. Scott Jr.; many great- nieces and great- nephews; special friends- Janice Bernoska, Oscar Hamod; her beloved kitty, Tinkerbelle. Marcia was a 1964 graduate of Calumet High School. Throughout Marcia’s life she was an extremely hard worker. Early in her career Marcia was employed as a carhop at Johny’s Drive Inn, an assembly line worker at Sunbeam Lighting Co., and as a salesperson at Montgomery Wards after school and holidays. In 1966 Marcia joined Inland Steel Co. #3 Cold Strip West where she worked as a production recorder, electrician, and crew member on #4 Pickle Line. Marcia was a proud member of United Steelworkers of America Local 1010 and upon retirement she joined the Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees (SOAR). Marcia’s passion for helping others was showcased throughout the next phase of her career where she spent 10 years working at the Central Service Office of Alcoholics Anonymous. Most importantly, Marcia shared her experience, strength, and hope to newcomers. But she was also responsible for answering phones and giving meeting information. Additionally, Marcia was involved in the Calumet Area Intergroup where she served as the Public Information Chairman and “Carried the Message” to high schools and health fairs. In her free time Marica had a wide variety of interests including reading, oil painting, swimming, and Netflix streaming. She also served as a volunteer Pink Lady at Methodist hospital. By Far, Marcia’s most beloved hobby was Genealogy. She researched the Goodan and Welton family trees extensively for over 40 years to share with her nieces and nephews. Marcia was a member of the Inland Ski Club and skied in Mont Blanc, Switzerland, Michigan, Wisconsin and Colorado. She loved traveling around the world to Canada, Switzerland, Denmark, France, Italy, Hawaii, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, but her most favorite were the road trips across the United States from as far east as Hyannis Port Massachusetts, New York City, and Washington D.C. south to New Orleans, Louisiana for Mardi Gras, and of course the whole state of Florida as far as Key West. Olive Hill, Kentucky for the Goodan Family Reunions and west coast to Cambria, California. Marcias’s laugh filled up every room she entered, and her smile was one you couldn’t help but mirror. She will be greatly missed. Marcia was a past member of Blessed Sacrament church, Fr. Louis Madejczyk, and a member of Our Lady of Consolation church, Fr. Peter John Muha. The visitation will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.
