Marcee Lee Nightingale

March 6, 1957 - April 15, 2021

Marcee Lee Nightingale, born March 6, 1957, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2021, after a long battle with diabetes and its complications. She was the beloved daughter of Kathleen Nightingale and sister of Cynthia (Mark) Greenwood, Dean (Jenny nee Gomez) Nightingale, Kathleen Challand (Joe Campagna), and Erich (Kathy nee Zimmerman) Nightingale. She was preceded in death by her brother Victor and father Richard. Marcee held a master’s degree in counseling and provided compassionate care and counseling to juvenile and adult offenders, underserved parents, and high school students throughout her career. She loved listening to music, sunbathing at the beach, wading in the waters of Lake Michigan, and boating with her family. But the thing she will be most remembered for is her incredible love for her many nieces and nephews: Lauren Greenwood Stark, Joanna Greenwood Meisner and Melissa Greenwood Bandel; Cole and Kyle Challand; Victor, Kathleen and Jaime Nightingale; and Evan and Kyle Nightingale. While she never gave birth herself, Marcee had a strong maternal instinct and was like a second mother to many. She was generous to a fault, lavishing gifts, time and attention on her nieces and nephews, and then her great niece and nephews. She will long be remembered for her lively presence at family birthdays, holidays, vacations and weddings. Even when mobility was more difficult and she was in pain, Marcee spent untold hours playing games and hanging out with her nieces and nephews. She was a beautiful, loyal and kind person. We take comfort in knowing she is at peace and that her soul is no longer bound to a failing body. Aunt Marcee may be gone from this place, but she remains forever in our hearts. Memorial service will be private.
