Kelly D. Evans Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Kelly Dawn (Chandler) Evans, age 55 of Merrillville, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Southlake Methodist Hospital. Kelly was born on Sept. 20, 1966 in Merrillville, IN to Richard and Donna Chandler. As a child, Kelly played softball in the Merrillville Girls Softball League. She was a 1985 graduate of Merrillville High School, where she participated in varsity pom poms. Back in the day, she and her best friend, Carri, spent many an adventurous evening cruising Broadway! Upon graduation, Kelly started her professional career at what was then known as First Federal Savings and Loans. She was then employed for several years in the casino industry. More recently, Kelly worked tirelessly for over a decade in the construction industry where she was known as a mama bear to her colleagues. Kelly will be remembered as a kind, giving, loving, and sweet person who was fiercely protective of those she loved. Weekends she could be found at her daughter and son-in-law’s home, which allowed her to indulge in her favorite joyous activity: spending time with her adorable grandsons, Leo and Jude. Kelly is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Dyu Manchanda of Dyer, IN; two precious grandchildren, Leo and Jude Manchanda; her beloved brother, Ryan Chandler, of Hebron, IN; dearest friends, Carri and George Sinnis and family of Carmel, IN; special pups, Charlie and Carley, and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Richard and Donna Chandler. A visitation celebrating the life of Kelly will be held May 13, 2022, from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.
