December 29, 1973 - September 19, 2021
It is with great sadness and disbelief that we announce the sudden and very unexpected passing of Jose Oscar Martinez Jr. (Joey) of Pensacola, FL on September 19th, 2021 at the youthful age of 47. He was our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend. Joey will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 26 years, Brenda; children: Jose Oscar III (Betsy), Josue Manuel and Jasmine Marie and his grandchild Adriel Jose. Joey’s legacy will continue to live on and thrive in his children and grandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by his parents Jose Oscar and Maria Angelica, 3 sisters: Priscy (Angel), Margie, and Angie (Rick), as well as many nieces, nephews and a great niece. Jose O Martinez Jr (Joey) was born in Gary, IN on December 29th, 1973 and graduated from Emerson Visual and Performing Arts School in 1992. He worked for Verizon for 22 years where he thrived and ultimately transferred to Pensacola Florida earlier this year, which was a dream of his and his family for a long time. He also recently was blessed with becoming a Pastor and starting a church with his family Iglesia la Roca Pensacola. He was an incredible person who touched the hearts of everyone he met. He loved and cared deeply for everyone around him whether it was his family, friends, or co-workers. He was a jokester and could make you laugh for hours. He also had a love for baseball and the Chicago Cubs! He was an amazing and talented musician and genuinely enjoyed playing alongside his kids. He passed on his talent and love for music and was so proud of all his children. Knowing Joey was to know for certain that you had someone you could talk to and confide in and someone that would pray with and for you. He had such a calm and comforting nature about him that it made you feel such at ease when speaking with him. He was a faithful, servant of God. He and his family dedicated living their lives in serving the Lord compassionately and without judgement to spread the gospel not only locally but through many mission trips to other countries. We will forever keep you in our hearts and you will never be forgotten. Love you! A Visitation/Celebration of Life Service will be held at Iglesia Pentecostal Emanuel-Harbor 3802 Elm St. East Chicago, IN 46312 on Thursday September 30th, 2021 from 4:00pm-7:00pm with Service starting at 7:00pm and Pastor Johnny Bonilla will officiate.
