May 15, 1935 - November 15, 2020

Betty Jane (Wienke) Smith, of Crown Point, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 15, 2020. Betty was born on May 15, 1935 in Bristol, WI. On May 16, 1953 she married the love of her life Warren G. Smith and they were married for 66 wonderful years until his passing. Betty Smith is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Smith) Himbury and brother, Don Wienke. She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren, infant son Barry, and children Jerry, Terry, Larry, and Mary (Athey). Betty was a stay-at-home mother until her children went to school. She was a seamstress for many years and enjoyed making many beautiful clothes, including wedding dresses. She still loved making clothing for her family up until her passing. Betty’s hobbies included sewing, crafts, and gardening. She was an avid cook and baker. She was always asked to bring food and desserts to family and church functions. She will be most remembered for her delicious baking skills. Being the Life-long Honeymooners, Betty and Warren also loved to travel. They lived most of their married years in Indiana, but relocated to Salome, AZ for 17 years. Betty loved Arizona most but returned to Indiana to be by her family. Betty has many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, who have adored her. She will always be remembered as a very loving, family-oriented lady who helped others in need. She will be sadly missed by all who cherished her. A Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at 10:30 DIRECTLY at Trinity Lutheran Church, 250 S. Indiana Ave, Crown Point, IN. Go to Door I.
