Barbara Jean Hendricks Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Barbara Hendricks, age 90, of Hebron, IN, passed away on April 11, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband- Jewell Hendricks; eight brothers and sisters- Ellorea (Herman) Kuhn, Evelyn (Will) Hoggatt, Jim (Mary) Goodwin, Wanda (Sid) White, Donna (Rex) Adkins, David (Alta) Goodwine, Ralph (Sue) Goodwine and twenty three nieces and nephews. Barbara was married to Jewell Hendricks on April 19, 1952 until his death on October 20, 1982. She is survived by her children- Ken (Julie) Hendricks and Janet (Les) Miller, grandchildren- Joshua Hendricks, Jeffrey Hendricks, Jessica (Joshua) Newman, and Meredith (Eric) Santana, great-grandchildren- Chloe, Micah and Rosalina. Barbara was a loving wife and mother. She was married to her sweetheart, Jewell Hendricks for 30 years. Barbara’s children could always depend on her love and support. She was always there for them, no matter how old they became. Her continued prayers and faithful testimony guided their lives and will be greatly missed. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of spending precious time with their Grandma Barb, making precious memories. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was always ready to help out whenever they needed her. Barbara loved to travel and planned many trips across the United States for her family. She camped across the country with her family in a camper which Jewell built traveling to California, Florida and Vermont. Barbara wanted her family to see this beautiful country and meticulously planned each trip. Barbara had a standing date each Friday, as long as she was able, to play a game of Phase 10 with her sisters Wanda and Donna, sister-in-law Alta and niece Rosalee. It was the highlight of her week. She loved serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Barbara was a member of Hessville Baptist Church for sixty-two years. She was a devoted Sunday school teacher and department head. Barbara also served for many years as the church clerk and treasurer. She had the gift of administration and worked for many years as a faithful church secretary at Hessville Baptist Church, Decatur Baptist Church and Catholic Family Charities. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral at 1:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.
