Thomas John Reed

Thomas “Tommy” John Reed, 65, of Hebron, IN passed away Saturday May 7, 2016 at his home. Tom was born February 19, 1951 to Thomas and Irene (nee Krupel) Reed. He graduated from Merrillville High School in 1969. On September 18, 1976 he married the former Antoinette (Toni) Rose Praschak. Tom was a carpenter and loved to do remodeling projects around the house. He coached his children in Little League and Softball and umpired for many years. Tom always had a funny story to tell or prank to play. He was thankful each day for his wife Toni and the care she provided. He wanted the best for her and always said he was a lucky man. Tom dearly loved all his children and was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments. The other joys in his life were his grandchildren Bryce and Iris. Tom loved each day he was able to spend time with Bryce. Being with Bryce was better than any medicine Tom could take to feel better. He will truly miss his best friend and faithful companion Mollie Dog. He attended church when he was able and always made sure to share the Word of God with his family. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Antoinette (nee Praschak) Reed of Hebron; his children- Jason (Alecia Santuzzi) Reed of DeKalb, IL, Jessica (Joseph) Peters of Merrillville, IN, and Scott Reed of Hebron, IN; grandchildren- Bryce Reed and Iris Reed; brother- David (Melissa) Reed of Crown Point, IN; sister- Donna (Tony) Carroll of Hebron, IN; step-brothers- Richard Keever of Crown Point ,David Keever of Renton, Washington; aunt-Lucille Vurva of Florida; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother- Irene (nee Krupal) Reed; father- Thomas C. Reed; stepmother- Onalee (nee Keever) Reed; sisters- Claudia Reed and Connie Harvey; step-brother- Larry Keever. Friends may visit with Tom’s family on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 250 S. Indiana Ave, Crown Point IN, with Rev. David Kipp officiating.
