Sharon Lee Anderson

Sharon Lee (Magro) Anderson, age 74, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025. Born to Angeline Magro Gregorczyk (nee Hejmej) and Sam J. Magro on November 27, 1951, in Michigan City, IN. Sharon was the beloved twin sister of Nancy Ann Medved (Peter) and cherished older sister of Kathleen Magro Worth. Sharon had a loving marriage with her husband, Dwight Boyd, whose devotion and companionship brought Sharon immense joy. Together, they built a life filled with smiles, laughter, shared adventures, and unwavering support for one another. Sharon and Dwight loved riding motorcycles and spending time with family. Sharon enjoyed her time babysitting and helping out with her 4 step-great-grandchildren. She also adored her two grand dogs, who brought her happiness with a little frustration when dog-sitting. Sharon was a steadfast supporter of Dwight’s involvement in the Marine Corps League, standing proudly by his side and encouraging his dedication to service. Their bond was a testament to love, resilience, and shared passions. Sharon was a loving second mother to her four nieces and nephews: Adam Medved (Ashley), Krystal Quinn (Kevin), Jaclyn Knowles (Michael Davis), and Kyle Knowles (Jade Petrie), and took great pride in her great-nieces and great-nephews: Conor, Garrett, Ryan, Freddie, and Scottlynn. Sharon had three stepdaughters, Renee Salmi (Mike), Amy Plumb (Mike), and Lori Laurain (Alex), and was known as ‘Grandma Sharon’ to 4 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. Sharon graduated from William A. Wirt High School in Gary, IN, in 1970 and furthered her education at Purdue University Northwest Indiana. She demonstrated a strong desire for new opportunities and held several jobs over the years, gaining knowledge, experiences, and friends along the way. She was also a devoted caretaker to family members in their time of need. An active member of Salem United Methodist Church, Sharon was known for her warmth and generosity. To family and friends, Sharon was truly one-of-a-kind —personal, strong-willed, sarcastic, and curious. She lived life on her own terms with an independent spirit, sharp wit, unfiltered honesty, and a great sense of humor. Her two left feet only added to her charm. Sharon had an interest in nature, loved outdoor walks, and was fond of owls. She cherished her annual “Cookie Baking Marathon” with family each Christmas. Sharon loved travelling to new places and treasured her visits to Miller Beach at Lake Michigan and the City of Chicago. She spent countless hours preserving family memories by sharing old photographs and participated in numerous clinical trials to support medical research. Her thoughtfulness and laughter touched everyone who knew her. Sharon’s legacy lives on in the fond memories of those she cared for and the traditions she helped create. She will be remembered always for her strong character, devotion, and unwavering love. A memorial service for Sharon will be held at Salem United Methodist Church, 756 W. 350 South, Hebron, IN 46341, on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 3:00 pm, with a meal and fellowship to follow.
