Patricia Ann Porter

Patricia Ann Porter, age 86, was born in Gary, Indiana, to Helen and Harry Davies on May 16, 1938. She was the middle child, the first girl after twin boys and followed by 2 sisters. They grew up in a beautiful home crafted by her dad on Cleveland Street in Gary, IN. She attended Calumet High School. Patricia eventually met James Porter, her grumpy, lifelong friend, forever love, provider, and father to their 6 boys at a sock hop. From their love, a huge family grew to 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Pat loved everyone she ever met, and everyone loved her. She was known as "Mom or Mom Porter" to friends, family of family and all of Independence Hill neighborhood. Pat created magic in the kitchen mixing what she had into a delicious meal. She was so imaginative and resourceful; she baked the best variety of Christmas cookies and crafted the most beautiful stockings and tree skirts to forever be treasured. Pat hand sewed Halloween costumes for family. She turned their pontoon boat into a Hawaiian island with a volcano. Pat planned and hosted parties at the lake, at their winter retreat in Mission, TX and at her church in Kewana. She lived her life loving Jesus and praying for her family's salvation. Life changed for Pat when she lost her husband August 27, 2019. She continued to live a full happy life surrounded with people that loved her but passed away on November 19, 2024. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Harry Davies; her brother, Robert Davies (Loma); her sister, Leilani Davis (Phillip Davis); her son, Mark Porter; and her husband, James Porter. She is survived by her sister, Pam Wesley (Jeff) and brother, Dick Davies; her sons: James Porter (Karen), David Porter (Sunny), Timothy Porter (Lisa), Paul Porter (Brenda), and Peter Porter (Kandy); grandchildren: Justin Porter, Jillian Mitchell (Jason), Jennifer Bultema (Greg), Christine Mestrovich (Kevin), Melissa Cheek (Bryan), Megan Watson (Billy), Jerrett Porter (Andreina), Jacob Porter (Karly), Jacey Cubelli (Julian), Joshua Porter, Hannah Porter, Michael Havlik (Erica), Jeffery Havlik, Kristen Caskey (Nick); 25 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. A private family service will be held on November 23, 2024. A celebration of life will be held in July 2025. Details to come for family and friends.
