Patricia "Pat" K. Huerta

Patricia Katherine Huerta, age 97 of Valparaiso passed away July 1, 2026. She died peacefully at home in the loving hands of her family. Patsy was born in Gary, IN to Thomas and Mary (nee Yarvice) Webster. She spent a lifetime loving and caring for her younger brothers while the family lived in Missouri and Indiana. On July 5, 1947, she married John F. Huerta, whom she met on a blind date. They raised seven children and were together for 64 years. Pat was preceded in death by Johnny and their daughter Catherine; her parents and brothers, Wesley “Butch”, William “Bill”, and Charles “Charlie”. She is survived by her children, John (Beth) Huerta, Michael Huerta, Rebecca Huerta, Joseph Huerta, Karen (Mike) Foster and Patricia Huerta; brothers, Thomas “Tom” and Albert James (Jim) (Beth); 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces’ nephews, cousins and friends. Pat was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker and was known to keep all the neighborhood kids in line along with her own. Once all the children were in school, she began a 25-year career at JC Penney as a sales associate, catalog department manager and assistant store manager. Pat was a devout Catholic whose life was guided by her faith. She supported and volunteered endless hours to several parishes and causes within the Diocese of Gary. For many years she, along with the Angel dusters, lunch and decorating committees were regular fixtures at Holy Angels Cathedral. Her devotion extended to the loving care she provided to everyone in her life, in our sickness and health. She taught us how to do it, and it was our honor and pleasure to return this care to Mom in her final precious years. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 3-7 p.m. with prayer service at 6 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home and Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, and from 9-10 a.m., prior to the Mass on Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church, 302 N. Madison St, Hebron. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery.
