Patricia Ann Cronin

Patricia Ann Cronin, 96, a beloved daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024. Born on August 1, 1928, in Richmond, Indiana, Pat was a vibrant spirit who touched the lives of everyone she met. Pat was the daughter of Walter and Francis Cronin and was preceded in death by her loving parents, her brother Jim Cronin (Georgene), her sister Mary Buck (Ken), her brother Thomas Cronin, as well as her nephew Tim Cronin (survived by wife, Sherry) and her cousins Bill Warfel (Jody) and Bob Warfel (survived by wife, Annette). Pat’s lifelong companion, Tom Eaton, also preceded her in death, and she will be forever remembered for the love and companionship they shared. Pat is survived by her beloved family, including her nephew Ken Buck III (Julieanne) and her nieces Mindy McCrane (Sam), Julie Kuzma, and Tracy Loveland (Pete). She also leaves behind a host of cousins who held a special place in her heart, including John Roser, Sue Roser, Jodi Barnum (Dan), Karen Roser, Sandy Dale (Darrell), Judy Smith (late husband Mark), Christy Holland (Scott), Jeffery Smith (Michelle), Jennifer Smith (Peter), John Warfel (late wife Delynn), and Tom Warfel (Clarie). A graduate of Richmond High School, Pat also took courses at Earlham College in Richmond. Pat moved from Richmond to Gary after high school, and then later to Miller Beach. Pat worked for many years as an accountant for the Budd Company. She was not only dedicated to her work but also to her community. An active parishioner at St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church in Miller, Pat was involved with various Catholic charities and was a member of the Miller Citizens Community, demonstrating her commitment to service and faith. Pat's strength, independence and passion for life was evident in all she did. She served as a role model for young women (especially her family members) whether she knew it or not. She loved the beauty of northwest Indiana, often enjoying the serene dunes, beach, and making treasured memories on trips to Chicago. Whether it was shopping, visiting museums, attending theater performances, symphony, or cheering on the Chicago White Sox and her beloved Chicago Bears, Pat embraced every moment with enthusiasm and joy. An avid traveler, Pat explored the US, Virgin Islands, Europe, and Africa, creating cherished memories with dear friends and family. Pat also enjoyed her knitting group, book club, and bridge club. Pat truly lived a life full of love, laughter, and service, leaving an indelible mark on her community and all who knew her. A Catholic Mass in Pat’s honor will be held at St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, located at 6060 Miller Avenue, Gary, Indiana, on November 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM CST. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Pat’s remarkable life and the impact she had on all who knew her.
