Sweet Dreams Patricia A. (Patty) Lennertz who left us Friday, February 10, 2012. Patty is now reunited with James F.( Jimmy) Lennertz, the love of her life and best friend after 20 years of being apart. Patty is survived by her daughters Pam , Kim and Debbie…their husbands Doug, Don and John…her grandchildren Danielle, Lauryn, Jonathan and Alexia, as well as great grandchildren Gavin and Chloe. Patty was born October 20, 1930 in Merrillville and attended Merrillville High School where she met Jim. Soon after high school they were married and Jim was drafted to the Army where they spent two years in France. Patty spent her days being an extraordinary wife, mother and friend to all. Before it was trendy to be labeled an event or party planner, Patty was it! As Jim ran the business, Lennertz Oldsmobile, Patty was always there planning social gatherings and parties for friends and business colleagues. They traveled the world and loved every minute of it. Jim and Patty were members of the Gary Country Club and again, Patty was responsible for many of the themed socials, parties and events for the members. Patty could constantly be seen at St. Peter and Paul Elementary School and Andrean High School planning fun events for the children and creative fund raising efforts. She was named Andrean High School’s “Man of the Year”, an award she shared with dear friend Joyce Nutt, due to their more than successful fund raising events. Patty had a passion for flowers and floral design and could create the most beautiful and unique arrangements. As the children got older, she opened a florist in Glen Park and gave floral demonstrations to various women’s groups and clubs in the area. In 1986, Patty and Jim officially retired and relocated to Sarasota, Florida. Here again, Patty became the social director of the Sarasota Country Club as well as the Gulf and Bay Club. Always wanting to be busy and active, she opened another store, Treasure Baskets. She and her daughter Kim created beautiful gourmet foods and specialty item gift baskets. A celebration of Patty’s life will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, Rev. Joseph Vamos officiating. Entombment in Calumet Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Merrillville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home. www.burnsfuneral.com
