Nancy Lee Lawrence

Nancy Lee (McCorry) Lawrence, age 74, of Harvey, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, in Merrillville, Indiana after a long battle with cancer. She was born on August 2, 1951, in Evergreen Park, Illinois. Nancy attended Ascension Church in her youth and carried the values of faith and family throughout her life. Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Larry Lawrence. She was the loving mother of Sherry Lawrence (Brian), Susan Cox (Michael), Sandra Lawrence (Efren), Shannon Lawrence (Dwayne), and Stephanie Loyd (Lendale). She was a devoted grandmother to Michael Jr, Marissa (“Pita”), Jordan, Diamond, Lendale Jr, Dmario, Jayden, Diamonique and Xavier. Her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Lawrence; her twin sons, Dean and Duane McCorry; and her parents, Leroy and Shirley McCorry. She is lovingly survived by her brother, Richard McCorry (Suzanne); her sister, Janet Davis (Bob); her five daughters; her nine cherished grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply. After retiring, Nancy found her greatest happiness in spending quality time with her family. She loved being outdoors and never missed an opportunity to watch her favorite court and legal television shows. She also enjoyed watching wrestling and Nascar with her grandsons. She will be remembered for her strength, love, and unwavering devotion to those she held close. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, Indiana 46307. A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 19500 South Cottage Grove Avenue, Glenwood, Illinois 60425 at noon. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Nancy’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Cancer Society in Nancy’s memory.
