Michael Charles Evon

Michael Charles Evon, age 77, of Crown Point, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Gary, Indiana, Michael was a proud graduate of Lew Wallace High School, Class of 1967. After graduation, he later pursued his passion for hairstyling and attended hairstylist school in Chicago, beginning a lifelong passion for his craft. Michael had a natural gift for making people feel comfortable and cared for, which made him not just a talented hairstylist but also a trusted friend to so many who sat in his chair over the years. Throughout his career, Michael balanced his work as a hairstylist with his service at the Lake County Government Center, where he retired after many dedicated years. Michael’s greatest joy came from the people in his life. He was a devoted husband, a loving brother, and a proud uncle and great-uncle. His family and friends will always remember his unique personality, his quick wit, his love of fashion, and his ability to bring laughter into any room. He loved spending time with those closest to him, sharing stories, offering support, and simply enjoying the company of the people he cared about. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Evon and their dog Poppie; sisters, Elaine (Doug) Morrone and Lenora Evon; brother-in-law, John Malyj; nephew, Eric Morrone; nieces, Nycole (James) West and Mary Malyj (Max Crim); aunt, Flo Evans; great-nieces, Olivia, AnneMari, and Jamee; great-nephews, Josh and Matthew; and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Michael Evon; his sister, Marianne Malyj, and his dog Chauncey. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Burns Funeral Home, followed by a private family burial. Michael’s life was defined by love, laughter, and connection.
