Judith "Judy" Elizabeth Calhoun

Judith (Judy) Elizabeth Calhoun, age 69, of Crown Point, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025. Judy is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Donald Calhoun, Jr.; her children, Connor Calhoun, Kelsey Calhoun, and Haley (Jacob) Dockery; her siblings, Raymond (Lynne) Petty, Jeanne (Greg) Hansen, and Jennifer Prouty; her sister in-law, Cindy Petty; her brother in-laws, Bill Carpenter, Steve Calhoun (Renee Liebnow), Adam (Julie) Calhoun; father in-law, Donald Calhoun, Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, and close relatives. Judy is preceded in death by her parents: Richard and Mary Jane Petty; brothers, Jeff Petty, Roger (Carol) Petty; sister, Jan Carpenter; and mother in-law, Betty Jane Calhoun. While earning her associates degree at Loop College, formally known as Harold Washington, in the spring of 1992, Judy met her loving husband Don, starting their journey of 32 years of making memories and building a beautiful life together. Judy strived to be very educated earning her first bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2002 at Elmhurst College and her RN at the University of St. Francis in 2016 at the age of 60. Working as a nurse, Judy found a home helping those battling with addiction, where her devotion, spirit, and loving nature helped numerous patients and touched the lives of many coworkers. She was a compassionate nurse, coworker, and friend, her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. When Judy wasn’t helping those while nursing, she loved those at home. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring aunt and a fun sister. She was well known for her sense of fashion, love for shopping and crafting, artistic ability, gift giving, and her ability to lighten any situation with a smile or a laugh. In Judy’s memory, we will have a celebration of life, which will be communicated when arrangements are finalized.
