Joyce Ann Midgett

Joyce Ann Midgett, age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on July 8, 2025. She was born in Gary, IN. Joyce was a graduate of Crown Point High School, Class of 1959. Early in her career, Joyce worked as a title processor, but she soon dedicated herself to raising her three children, providing a loving home for them. Her generosity and nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she became a foster parent to many children over the years, offering them a place of warmth and safety. Joyce’s dedication to service continued later in life when she became a greeter at Venture in Merrillville. Her warm smile and friendly demeanor made her a familiar face, and she became a cherished representative of the store. An avid Bunco player, Joyce was a proud member of a Bunco club for more than 40 years, building lifelong friendships along the way. She enjoyed a portion of her retirement living and working on Kellys Island on Lake Erie, where she created lasting memories with family and friends. Joyce shared a special bond with her long-term partner, Jim Bauske. Together, they enjoyed camping trips with their family and attending Gary Railcats games, where they were known to cheer on their team with enthusiasm and joy. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived her partner, Jim Bauske; children, Thomas Midgett, Joe Midgett, Debbie (Brian) Hernandez; Chet (Chrissy) Midgett; grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Arndt, Gloria (John) Jewett, many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members. Joyce was preceded in death by her late husband, Chet Midgett; parents, Delbert and Ruth Fischer.
