Jared James Klassen

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jared at the age of 30. Jared was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, loyal brother, caring uncle and a true friend to many. Born on December 17, 1994, in Crown Point, IN, Jared lived his life with grit, loyalty and an open heart. He was a proud Journeyman Carpenter with Local No. 1485 where he took pride in his work and in being a part of a brotherhood built on that hard work. His care for others extended beyond the job site. He always wanted to keep his brothers safe and make sure everyone got home. Jared had a deep love for the open road and found freedom in riding. He made lasting friendships and memories on two wheels, always chasing the wind and the peace that came with it. Above all, Jared’s greatest pride and joy was his family, including the family pets. He shared an unshakable loving bond with his wife, Sam, and was a proud and devoted father to his son Abel (aka Jared Junior). The love he had for them was endless and fiercely protective. Jared is preceded in death by his grandmother, Irene Salat. He is survived by his wife, Sam; his son, Abel; his parents, Jennifer (Shane) Maul and Tony Klassen; his siblings: Ahna, Samantha & Conner (Phoebe); father and mother in-law, Brandon & Kim Dobe; brother-in-law, AJ Dobe; sister-in-law, Mikayla Dobe (Noah); auntie, Andrea Cooper; cousins, Tyler and Trevor Cooper; uncle, Steve (Tina) Reynolds, grandparents, Larry and Debbie Reynolds. Jared leaves behind countless family members, fellow riders, co-workers, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts. A visitation will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, Crown Point, IN. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Crown Point, IN. In honor of Jared’s spirit, feel free to ride with helmets on and wear any gear you have. Or, come as you are, just like he always did.
