Jacquelyn Beth Baldwin

Jacquelyn Beth Baldwin (nee Cramer), 83 of Hobart, IN went home to Heaven on June 27, 2026. Jackie was born on February 1, 1943, on the South Side of Chicago on her mother's birthday. She resided in Chicago with her parents, Jack and Dorothy Cramer and sister, Carol and then in Dolton, Illinois. Jackie is survived by her "one and only son", Christopher Baldwin, her sister, Carol Cramer; sisters-in-law, Sandra, Barbara, Judith; brother-in-law, Henry Baldwin; her care givers: Tom & Karen Hill, Joy Morales, Nina Greene and Nora Sorci. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Baldwin and parents, Jack and Dorothy Cramer. Jackie was a graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She also took classes at Chicago State College, library science course at George Williams College and German at Xavier College in Illinois. Jackie had 8 years of higher education. She taught 4th grade in Waukegan, Illinois and in South Holland, Illinois. Jackie substituted in Calumet City and the Dolton School Districts and later in the Merrillville School District. She got her Cosmetologist license at Don Roberts Beauty School and cut hair for a few years. Jackie also worked in the Accessory Department at Kmart. Later in life, Jackie had a paper route and was employed at Strack and Van Til as a Utility Clerk. She was married for 39 years to Willard Baldwin. They lived in Calumet City, Illinois and Merrillville, Indiana. Jackie and Willard attended Riverdale Baptist Church, and the Presbyterian Church in Hammond, IN. She was a member of Bethel Church of Crown Point and of the Friendship Class at Bethel. After the death of her husband, Jackie thrived at Brentwood of Hobart as a resident. She was known and loved by everyone at Brentwood including staff members and residents. She would say “I love it here!". Jackie was an avid writer and had excellent penmanship. She was a pen pal and cherished the lost art of letter writing to her friends. Jackie put detailed events of her life in her diary and on paper. She took notes of every sermon and Bible class that she heard. Jackie loved animals, especially dogs, cats, and horses. She loved to read books and magazines and once set up a library at her church in Riverdale. Jackie would complete crossword puzzles, play scrabble and color pictures for Phil's Friends. She loved to walk. Jackie enjoyed hearing Bible stories read to her. Unknown to many was her gift of artistry including pottery and sketchings of people and animals. She was anxious to go to heaven as she knew that there, she would have no more pain from cancer. Jackie will be missed by many. A Celebration of Jackie Baldwin's life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Dave Lucas, Elder from Bethel Hobart/Portage Campus officiating.
