Gwendolyn Faye Gargano

Gwendolyn Faye Gargano (Nee Harmon), 90, of Crown Point, Indiana passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 9, 2023. One of 13 children, she was born on April 30, 1932, in Pontiac, Illinois to Clyde and Cora Harmon. She was raised in Pontiac by her father and cherished stepmother Genevieve. Gwen attended Pontiac High School. During those years she took pride in singing on the radio alongside her father and his band. She met the love of her life, Ralph Gargano, while working as a cashier at a local grocery store after high school. They married on April 7, 1951. Gwen and Ralph went on to have 4 children: Mike Gargano (Sue), Tony Gargano (Gale), Lynda Warne (J.R.) and Laura Gargano; 7 grandchildren: Eric Gargano, Brad Gargano, Tony Gargano, Christina Sideris, David Warne, Laura Brazil, and Madalyn Warne; 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph (January 17, 2022) and her grandson Joe Gargano. Gwen worked as a bookkeeper for Physicians Pharmacy for numerous years but took the most pride in her role as a homemaker. Every Sunday she could be found hosting dinner for her family and extended family, bringing everyone together to eat, visit, and watch sporting events. Gwen was kind, warm, loving, everything you could ever hope a grandmother to be. She spent her days with her cherished husband of 71 years Ralph, attending church, playing cards with family & friends, and catching up over the phone with her children, grandchildren, friends & loved ones. Her family was her greatest pride and joy and her life was dedicated to nurturing those relationships. She lived her life as the greatest example of God’s love. She will live on in the hearts of all who loved her, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love and the importance of family. Our angel on Earth and now an angel in Heaven. To the most beautiful heart & soul, whom we will never forget & can only hope to emulate. We are all better people for having known and loved you. A visitation will take place on Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 E. Joliet Street, Crown Point, IN. Rev. Kevin Huber officiating.
