George D Michelin Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George D. Michelin, age 79 formerly of Hammond IN, passed away on July 20, 2016. He was a graduate of Hammond Tech High School, Class of 1954. George was a retired policeman from the City of Hammond after 20 years of service. He then worked in the transportation Department of Inland Steel and retired after 20 years. George was a member of Hammond FOP Lodge No. 51., the Angler’s United, F.M.C.A., and the NWI Steelheader’s. He enjoyed his 19 years of retirement with fishing and R.V.ing and traveling the country (including Alaska and Canada). George was preceded in death by his parents- John and Opal; daughter- Michele Muschelewicz; sisters- Rita, Thelma, Lois; brothers- Don, Keith, John and Dennis. George is survived by his wife of 60 years- Kathleen (nee Kulik); 6 children; Mark ( Christine), Keith ( Jane), Brian, Renee ( Bob) Bush, John (Jodi) , Jim ( Tracey), Son-in law- Robert Muschelewicz; 15 Grandchildren; 4 Great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a special thank you to nephew- Donald and Linda Michelin for their special care and love. Friends are invited to visit with George’s family on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 2 – 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St. Hobart IN. Funeral services Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from Burns Funeral Home, Hobart, IN to St. Bridget’s Church, 107 Main St, Hobart IN. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Services will conclude at the church following with cremation at Burns Funeral Home and Crematory.
