Frank Halfin Kramer

Frank Halfin Kramer, of Portage, Indiana, laid down his working tools on September 27, 2023, and passed away peacefully at home at the age of 84. Frank was born in Greensboro, Pennsylvania and was proud of his pottery heritage and the Kramer Galatin glass in the Smithsonian. He graduated from West Virginia University with an Accounting and Finance degree and wished to see their football team beat Penn State. After serving in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War, he worked at US Steel Pittsburgh which brought him to Portage and US Steel Gary Tube. He later worked in banking for 15 years for Gainer, Chase and Centier banks. Frank was an avid soccer fan, loving nothing more than to watch his son and all four of his grandchildren play the game. Well, maybe he loved sitting on his porch reading and trying to stop the squirrels from eating the bird food just a little bit more. Frank was the 10th most Elder member of the Franklin St. John's Trinity Lodge No. 221 Masonic Fraternity for 63 years beating out his grandfather’s long standing membership record. He was a servant of the Lord and dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Hobart for 52 years where he taught Adult Sunday School for over 40+ years. He was a Master of Theology and never stopped learning. "Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations and exalted in the earth." The LORD Almighty is with us, the God of Jacob is our fortress. Psalms 46:10-11 He was preceded in death by his parents- Wilfred E. and Virginia; sister-Karen Bobo and his loyal dog-Pele. Frank is survived by his loving and patient wife -Arlene; two children-Kevin (Shellie) Kramer, Sherry Monachino; 4 grandchildren-Mitchell, Emma, Mia, and Marcus who were the light of his life; sister-Leah (Steve) Martin; brother- in- law- Dennie Bobo. Friends and family can celebrate Frank’s life on Saturday, September 30, 2023, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Hobart, 654 East 4th Street Hobart, IN 46342, Rev. Leah Peksenak presiding. Inurnment at Calvary Cemetery, Portage, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hobart Memorial Fund.
