Edna Lee Sutton, age 84, of Crown Point formally of Harvey, IL, passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart on January 2, 2021. She is survived by her children: Tony (Donna) Zane of Jasper, TN, Richard (Trish) Turcany of Plainfield, IL, Barbara Black of Bourbonnais, IL, Sue (John) Mendez of Sauk Village, IL, Steven (Brandi) Sutton of Hobart, IN, Jeffery N Sachs of Burns Harbor, IN; Grandchildren Heather (Andrew) Duckman of Tinley Park, IL, Jason Struyf of Bourbonnais, IL, Ian (Selena) Zane of Signal Mountain TN, John, Manual, and Sonny Mendez of Sauk Village, IL, Tony Zane of Lansing IL, Kenna Black of Elgin, IL., Nathan Turcany of Plainfield, IL, Tiffany, Joshua, and Christopher Sachs of Hobart, IN, and Matthew Turcany of Plainfield, IL; Great Grandchildren; Emily and Hannah Duckman, Katie and Marissa Mendez, Hannah Sanders, Hailey and Draven Zane; Great great Grandchildren, Violet Roberts and Lorelei Poppe, and her Brother Joseph Sutton. Edna was born in Stevenson, Alabama and grew up partly in Tennessee and then moved to Harvey, Illinois. She had a hard life growing up. Edna was a waitress most of her life and worked at the L&G restaurant in downtown Harvey, IL. She was not very traditional when it came to being a mother or a grandma, but she loved us all in her own way, and we all have our own special memories that make her who she was. At one point in her life, she loved to bet on the horse races at Balmoral Park in Crete, IL. and had her favorite jockeys. She was a very good cook and a master at making her mother’s biscuits and gravy. We all were raised on her fried chicken, fried potatoes, pinto beans, and her cornbread. Edna could always start trouble somewhere and with someone and would always have a funny story to tell. You could always catch her hiding food in her purse from her favorite buffet or hanging out at her favorite spot, the 24 hours Dunkin' Donuts in South Chicago Heights, IL. She will be greatly missed for sure! Visitation will be on Thursday January 7, 2021 at the Burns Funeral Home 10101 Broadway Av., Crown Point, IN from 4-8pm. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 1 pm with Pastor John Wilkerson officiating. Friends may meet with family on Friday one hour prior to the service time.
