Donna M. Bean, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 26, 2025. Born in Chicago, IL, on August 1, 1945, Donna later settled in New Lenox, IL, where she lovingly raised her son, David. For the past ten years, she made her home in Crown Point, Indiana. With relentless drive and determination, Donna built a successful career in the construction industry. She began as a bookkeeper, quickly mastering the business and proving that perseverance and hands-on experience could rival any formal degree. Her ability to learn swiftly led her to success in sales, where she forged lasting relationships and made a meaningful impact in the industry. Donna’s life was filled with laughter, kindness, and an unwavering generosity that touched everyone she met. Her incredible sense of humor and compassionate spirit made her a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She especially cherished her role as “Nana,” finding immense joy in her grandsons, Nicholas and Andrew, whom she loved dearly. If Donna had a signature passion, it was shopping! More than just a pastime, it was an expression of love. She delighted in selecting the perfect gifts for family and friends, always ensuring that those she cared about felt cherished. Donna especially embraced Christmas wholeheartedly, preparing months in advance to find treasures for those she loved, making every holiday season truly special. Donna was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lloyd and Elizabeth (née Karski) Bean, and her brothers, Gary, Robert, Ronald, and Dennis Bean. She is survived by her son, David (Linda) Barrios, and her cherished grandsons, Nicholas and Andrew Barrios. Donna also leaves behind her brothers, Terry (Lorraine) Bean and Thomas (Barbara) Bean; her sisters, Patricia (Gene) Maloblocki and Sharon (Michael) Carroll; sisters-in-law, Roberta, Sandy, and Joyce Bean; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts. Donna’s warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial serivce at 3 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN.
