Darroll J. Clavier

Darroll Jay Clavier, age 83, passed away at his residence in Knox, Indiana. Darroll was born in Maroa, Illinois on January 28, 1942, to Walter Lee Clavier and Olive Lorena Clavier. He was an Air Force veteran, Ford Motor Company retiree, proud UAW member, and a member of Knox Freewill Baptist Church. On May 17, 1982, Darroll married his beloved wife, Susan Alva Clavier in Hammond, Indiana. They would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary this May. Darroll was a man who led by example. He showed us the meaning of hard work, kindness, and integrity—not just through words but in everything he did. Whether it was the way he cared for his family, helped a friend in need, or simply treated everyone with respect, he had a lasting effect on everyone who knew him. His love, wisdom, and quiet strength will always be with us. Darroll loved spending quality time with his family; listening, learning, and discussing music and its history; reading novels of all varieties; bowling; and riding his beloved bicycle. Darroll is survived by his wife Susan; his two sisters, Betty Yahl (and husband Bob) and Vera Orich; his three daughters, Lisa Clavier, Doris Kelly (and husband Jim), and Felda Ong; and his son-in-law Ray Korba. Darroll has 12 grandchildren: James Kelly (and wife Amanda), Michael Korba (and wife Lisa), Phylicia Barth (and husband James), Joseph Medina, Alyssa Callison (and husband Jeremy), Vicki Kelly, Jorge Medina (and wife Danielle), Coco Hendershott, Andera Pluimer (and husband Colton), Zachary Korba (and wife Pam), Trevor Medina (and wife Amber), Jesse Medina (and wife Melissa). He also has 21 great grandchildren. As we mourn the loss of Darroll, we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his family up in Heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Olive Clavier, his siblings Nancy Lamb, Carol Thompson, and Chuck Clavier, his daughter Paula Korba, his nephew Jason Thompson, his great granddaughter Nora Barth, his nephew Darroll Clavier and niece Dawn Clavier, and his beloved dog Mia. A celebration of life in Darroll’s honor will be held at Knox Freewill Baptist Church on April 26, 2025, from 1 PM to 5 PM.
