Christopher George Stark, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on August 27, 2026, surrounded by friends and the family he spent a lifetime loving, encouraging, and protecting. Chris shared 37 joyful years with his beloved wife, Andrea. He is survived by his two children, Alexander and Casey. Chris was born in Evanston, Illinois, to Robert George Stark and Dolores Del Stark. From early childhood, he shared a close bond with his siblings, Rebecca and Milosh, and his loving and giving nature remained a defining part of him throughout his life. Chris graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1981, where he met Andrea in Spanish class at age14 and began a relationship that would become the great love of his life. What started as a teenage romance grew into nearly five decades of friendship, loyalty, laughter, and love. Chris and Andrea grew up together, navigated adulthood side by side, and built a home where family and friends were always welcome. Together they raised their children, Alex and Casey, supporting one another through the demands of work, parenthood, health challenges, and everyday life. Chris and Andrea’s relationship was marked by the genuine, enduring ways they cared for one another: sharing interests like B-roll horror movies and a love for the band Toto, and continuing to choose each other through nearly fifty years of change. Together, they created a family defined by warmth, loyalty, and unconditional love. Chris cherished the joy and closeness he shared with Alex and Casey. Some of the family's favorite memories are of the three of them dancing around the house together with music on full blast, laughing freely and turning ordinary moments into celebrations. Chris joined in with his characteristic enthusiasm, humor, and complete lack of self-consciousness. He made Alex and Casey feel that there was nowhere else he would rather be. Those moments captured the warmth of his fatherhood: he was present, playful, and fully engaged in the lives of his children. An Economics graduate of Indiana University, Chris built a respected career as a financial leader known for his intelligence, integrity, and generosity. No matter what kind of day he was having, he always greeted coworkers with a smile, a whistle, and a genuine interest in how they were doing. He never allowed his own circumstances to overshadow his care for others. Above all, Chris was a family man who believed the greatest measure of a life was how a person treated others. He showed up—with loyalty, kindness, humility, humor, and unconditional love—and made everyone around him feel seen and valued. Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Andrea (Granberry) Stark; his children, Casey Stark and Alexander Stark; his sister, Rebecca Stark Toth (Christopher); his brother, Milosh Pujo (Kelly). He was the adored uncle of four: Christopher, Matthew, Sofija and Danika. He will be remembered lovingly by the extended Kovachevich family of Northwest Indiana; and countless cousins, lifelong friends, and coworkers whose lives are richer because they knew him. Chris often measured life not by what a person accomplished, but by how they treated others. By that measure, his was a life extraordinarily well lived. He will be remembered for his wisdom, laughter, unwavering loyalty, and the certainty that he would always be there. His greatest legacy is that everyone fortunate enough to know him felt deeply loved in return. The family will announce details of a Celebration of Life at a later date.
