Charles C. MacDonald

Charles C. MacDonald, age 95 of Crown Point, passed away in St. Anthony Home on 11/7/2009. He was a graduate of Horace Mann High School, class of 1931. He attended Northwestern University for two years. Chuck graduated from Purdue University with a B. S. in Mechanical Engineering, and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1951. He retired as President of Wisconsin Steel Division, International Harvester (Navistar) in 1987. Chuck was on the Board of Directors of Calumet Area Industrial Development Commission and the Northwest Indiana Boys & Girls Club. He is an Honorary Life Trustee for the Glenwood School for Boys and Girls. He was a member of the Assn. of Iron and Steel Engineers (AISE), the Metallurgical Society of Mining, the Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (AIME), and the Chicago Assn. of Commerce and Industry, and he was active in Junior Achievement, and the Executive Program Club - University of Chicago. He was a fifty-year member of the Orak Shrine. He is a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Crown Point and a member of the Youche Country Club in Crown Point. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Raymond McDonald and sister, Tis (Jack) Brownlee. Chuck is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bunty MacDonald (nee Bain) of Crown Point; children – Carol (Dr. Ray) Bucur of Crown Point, and Dr. Charles C. (Nancy) MacDonald II of Willow Springs, IL; grandchildren – Nancy (Mike) Crnkovich, Jon (Melissa) Bucur, Jessica (Shane) Langemeier, Margot (Peter) Berko, David (Samantha) Bucur, Chase (fiancee, Tina) MacDonald, and Ian MacDonald; great grandchildren – Nathan, Allison, Kade, Ellory, Jacob, Cole and Charlie and loving nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Services will terminate at the funeral home with cremation following at the Burns Funeral Home Crematory. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, from 2-8 p.m. and also on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. (time of services).
