Carolyn Joyce Altese

Carolyn Joyce Altese, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 12th, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Carolyn was a woman of warmth, creativity, and deep devotion to her loved ones. She found joy in the simple things—crocheting was her passion. Whether it was cozy blankets, whimsical stuffed animals, or festive candy bags for her grandchildren’s school parties, Carolyn could turn a skein of yarn into something magical. Her talent was only matched by the love she wove into every stitch. A devoted wife, Carolyn cherished watching classic films with her husband, Anthony Altese—her favorite being Miracle on 34th Street. Their love was timeless, just like the movies they enjoyed together—a true testament that soulmates exist. They were the model of a loving and caring relationship, one we should all strive to emulate. More than anything, Carolyn loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into every role she held—always present, always loving, always proud. Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved mother Gwendolyn (Gwen), her father Donald, her stepfather John, and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her devoted husband, Anthony Altese; her brother, Jim Haley; her children, Donald Altese (Lori), Kathy Geiselman, and John Altese (Cary); and her grandchildren, Anthony Geiselman (Hannah), Samantha Bell (Matthew), Zac Geiselman (Kate), Melissa Vo (Van), Joseph Altese, Nicholas Altese, and Andrew Elkins. Her great-grandchildren, Lilli and Griffin Bell, Violet Geiselman, Coop and Scarlette Geiselman, and Mason Stewack were her greatest treasures—each one held close in her heart and given endless affection.. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21st, 2025 at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street, Hobart, Indiana, from 10:00 AM until the time of sharing at 12:00 PM, services will conclude at Calvary Cemetery, 2701 Willowdale Road, Portage, Indiana.
