Arlette Ann Turman

Arlette Ann Turman, was born on March 25th,1948 in Chicago, IL at Evangelical Hospital in Cook County. She was the youngest child of Arthur and Goldie Barnes. Arlette, a devout Catholic who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, passed away of heart complications on April 8th, 2023, at the young and vibrant age of 75. Arlette a.k.a “Artie” was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School in Gary, IN. She never met a stranger and had many skills and talents. Artie was a professional roller derby athlete early in her life and loved skating. She was a bartender and spent many years as a professional hairstylist and property manager throughout the midwest and south. She retired as a materials management supervisor at a local hospital system in Northwest Indiana. Artie was an avid reader of love and mystery novels. Her favorite role in retirement was as a GUBER (Granny Uber). She loved taking her grandkids to their sporting events, attending school field trips, plays, birthday parties and family gatherings. She was always there for her grandkids and great grandkids. Most of all Arlette was a beloved and proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed dearly. Arlette was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Goldie Barnes. She is survived by her sister Jacqueline Taylor (Nieces and Nephews) and her two sons Michael (Renee) Lachowicz and Arthur (Michelle) Wainwright, Jr. Her grandchildren from Michael are Michael, Samantha (Brent) Slawnikowski, Annie, Melanie, Victoria, Carly and Jessica with 14 beautiful great grandchildren. Her grandchildren from Arthur, Jr. are Arthur III “Tre”, Madison “Madi” and Aiden. She had many other beloved relatives (nieces, nephews and cousins) and friends with special recognition given to Rick Dauksza. “O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!” Psalm 61:1-4 (NLT) “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow, not even the power of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-89 (NLT) GOD SAW YOU GETTING TIRED: God saw you getting tired, a cure not meant to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered “Come with Me.” With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you fade away, although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay! A golden heart stopped beating, your tender hands at rest. God took you home to prove to us…he only takes the best!
