Nick Kalogeras

Nick Kalogeras, age 79 of Crown Point, IN., passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2019. He was born in Viki, Chios, Greece and was the eldest of his siblings. Nick immigrated to the United States in 1964, initially making his home in Baltimore, MA, until he came to Northwest Indiana to visit family and met and married the love of his life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was dedicated to his family. There are not enough words to describe a man whose character was remarkable; a hardworking man with unfaltering faith in God, who never had an unkind word to say and always had words of wisdom. He touched the hearts of every single person who knew him and loved him. Nick was as close as you can get to being the perfect father to his three girls and was a father figure and source of comfort and advice to many others. He was an example of what every man should strive to be as a Christian family man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He worked as a chef in the restaurant industry, but also loved cooking for his family. Nick was preceded in death by his wife- Kaliope Kalogeras; parents- Mihail and Marika Kalogeras; brother- Stelios Kalogeras; sister- Irene Kalogeras. He is survived by three loving daughters- Mary (Nick) Linaris , Kay Karakozis, Niki (Alex) Gagianas; 8 grand-children- Leanna, Cally and Joanna Linaris, John, Niko, and Chris Karakozis, Chryssa and Gia Gagianas; 2 great-grandchildren- Blakely and Tristan Karakozis; brothers- John (Despina) Kalogeras, Adamantios (Koula) Kalogeras; sister- Paraskevi Karakozis; many loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, brothers, and sisters-in-law. He will be remembered and missed by all. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Obaid and Kathryn Gjeldum for their compassionate and loving care to our father all these years.
