Marilyn "Moe" Jo Elliott

Marilyn Jo Elliott (McGee), affectionately known to family and friends as Moe passed away on May 12, 2023, surrounded by her family after being on hospice. She was a beloved mother to her daughter- Cynthia S. Pfeffer (Elliott) and son- Michael P. Elliott. Moe was a grandmother to grandson- Jason L. Pfeffer, granddaughter- Catherine A. Rucker (Pfeffer), granddaughter- Deaven Y. Elliott, granddaughter- Hannah M. Elliott, and grandson- Micah P. Elliott. She also was a great grandmother to great granddaughter- Eliana Pfeffer, great granddaughter- Monroe Rucker, great grandsons- Macklin and Machiavelli “Velli” Moon. Marilyn Jo was born February 1, 1936, in Mishawaka, Indiana to Margaret McGee and Ralph McGee. She grew up in South Bend in Riverpark. Moe was surrounded by her family, the Larsons, and enjoyed going to the McGee family farm during her summers in Illinois. She grew up during WWII and shared her experience of rationing during these times and still has the stamps that were issued. Moe loved to swim, horseback ride, and ice skating at Potawatomi Zoo. She was a no-nonsense person but warm and inviting to all she met. Moe saw the good in people and wanted to be surrounded by her friends and family all the time. She couldn’t sit still, she wanted to be where the action was and in later days it was always with her family and friends. She attended Indiana University for a short time, but her ultimate goals and happiness were in being a wife to her husband- Paul G. Elliott and a mother to her children. Moe was a fantastic cook, and an uplifter of sprits. You knew “Moe” was there because laughter was in the air when she was around. She could start a 600 page book in the morning and stay up reading on the couch until late in the night to finish it. This all while cleaning, ironing, driving people around, and making sure everyone had something in their belly. Moe was a fantastic knitter, and taught many generations and some who met her, her skills. She was more intelligent than she gave herself credit for and provided many wise words and lessons to all her friends and family throughout the years. In her later years it was tough for her to hear, to walk, and to breathe, which was frustrating to see because she always wanted to be on the go and involved. Moe sparked others to “get up off their butts” and get going! She continued to create, color, write, read her Bible, and reach out to others until her last days. Her love and passion for family is instilled in all her children and grandchildren to continue her legacy while she is gone. Moe touched so many people and created such warm and memorable gatherings of friends and family. She always gave it her best so others could enjoy it. She was selfless and sacrificed for others and loved unconditionally and protected others even when they may have deserved it. She loved life, God, her family, and the love of her life Paul G. Elliott and she showed it through her steady acts of appreciation for them. We will all cherish a voicemail from her just calling to say, “I love you”. A job well done. We love you!
