Elaine M Schaefer

Elaine Mari Schaefer, (nee Liss), of Hobart, passed away August 30, 2019. She was born on August 16, 1938. Elaine was a woman who always had style and sophistication and who gave a helping hand for anyone who needed it. She had such a giving and warm heart and always greeted anyone with a smile that would bring sunshine to a room. She loved her family more than she loved herself and her only goal in life was to see her family happy and content. During her life, she strived to ensure that everyone had what they needed and never stop thinking about how she can add value to someone’s life; however, small it was. She never thought twice about being there for her children and if she had the means; she would gladly give all her possessions away to ensure everyone had what they needed. She didn’t have much in worldly possessions, but what she did have was most precious of all- her heart was bigger than the universe! She never thought about herself, as her only thoughts were always for others and how she can make someone’s life enjoyable and meaningful. She sought to make a difference in the world; leaving her footprint of giving to others, love for anyone who came across her path, and most of all she left a legacy of good deeds that her family can follow and be proud of. She taught us how to be kind, forgiving, true to ourselves, and gave us the motivation to succeed at everything we put our minds to; however, small or big it may be. She instilled a sense of love and will power that helped carry us through any adversity that crossed our path. She displayed this strong will until the end and gave us a valuable lesson to adhere to-we all have choices, let’s make sure that our choices are for the good of others and your path will never be alone as you will always have family, friends, and most of all God by your side. She believed in the power of God and his mercy. She never once wavered in her beliefs that God can heal and be there for you, every step of the way no matter what the circumstance. In the end, God answered her prayers in the biggest way possible-to see her children united and to leave the world in a peaceful and dignified manner. Elaine is survived by her children Michael Long, Della (Don) Welch, Bruce (Irma) Long, grandchildren, Maria (Gio)Cassara, Zach Colliver, and Ashlee Colliver. We will miss you mom, but know that we will see you again. Thank you for all that you have done for us and for giving us the courage, conviction, love, and will power to succeed in life in a positive and meaningful way. You have left us with wonderful memories that we will cherish forever, but most importantly you left us with a legacy of good deeds which we will carry in your name with pride.
