Dorothy Ann Guba

Dorothy Ann Guba, age 89 of Noblesville, formerly of Valparaiso, Merrillville, and Gary IN. passed away on October, 7, 2018. She was married to the love of her life Emil Guba on July 28, 1951at Sacred Heart Church in Gary. Dorothy graduated from Tolleston High School in 1946 and coordinated class reunions for decades celebrating the friendship, laughter, and love with her peers and teachers. She was a member of the archconfraternity at Sacred Heart Church in Gary and had a devout love for the Lord. Dorothy helped developed the archconfraternity for singles as a young woman at Sacred Heart Church in Gary IN. Dorothy and Emil enjoyed attending pharmacy conventions for many years. She played pinochle with her dear friends once a month for over 40 years, sharing joys and sorrows of their lives. Dorothy was a precinct person for decades and volunteered and worked the polls, a member of the PTA at Sacred Heart and the Rosary Sodality. She was a Eucharistic minister at St. Andrews Apostle Church and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, the president of the Woman’s Committee and volunteered on many committees at St. Andrew the Apostle Church for decades. Dorothy was also a member of the Ecumenical group at St Andrews. She had a strong devotion to Our Lady and had the traveling statue at our home of our Lady of Fatima through The Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima. She was a volunteer with the Women of Interfaith in Northwest Indiana representing the Catholic Church. Dorothy was a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved her family and was always coordinating get- togethers to celebrate joys and sorrows with laughter and love. Dorothy was always smiling and bringing joy to everyone that came into her life, she never met a stranger. She was the photographer at every occasion to have memories. She loved to travel the world; she went to the Holy Land, Alaska, Germany, Fatima, Lourdes, Medjugorje, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Italy, and Poland.Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents- Samuel and Frances Crossk; loving husband- Emil Guba; daughter - Elizabeth Ann Guba. She is survived by her son- Joe (Marsha) Guba, daughters-Frances (Steve) Herskovitz, Mary (Doug) Miller, and Anne Marie Guba; grandchildren- Jeffrey and Jennifer Guba, Scott (Marni) and Eric Herskovitz, John and Emily Miller; sister-Margie Schweisthal; brother -Robert (Gladys) Crossk; brothers- in- law Bud (Doreen) Guba, and Ted Guba; and sister-in -law Marge Weidrich; many loving nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with Dorothy’s family on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018, beginning with prayers at Burns Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. proceeding to St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 801 W. 73rd Ave, Merrillville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rev.
